The Rudhro Prince Friendship Award was created to honor the life and legacy of Rudhro Prince, an extraordinary 8-year-old boy whose kindness, compassion, and joy touched everyone who knew him. Rudhro tragically passed away in 2018 from a severe asthma attack, but his spirit continues to inspire our community to this day.
Each year, the award is presented to 72 Grade 6 students across the Ottawa Catholic School Board. Recipients are chosen for embodying the very values Rudhro lived by—friendship, inclusion, kindness, and caring for others. It is a celebration of young people who make their schools and communities better through everyday acts of love and compassion.
Through this award, the Rudhro Prince Hope Foundation keeps Rudhro’s memory alive while encouraging the next generation to embrace the power of kindness. Along with a certificate, each award includes a donation to a charity of the student’s choice, empowering children to carry Rudhro’s spirit of giving forward.
The Rudhro Prince Friendship Award is more than a recognition—it is a reminder that friendship and kindness have the power to change lives and that Rudhro’s legacy continues to shine through the students who receive it each year.
